Jason, our beautiful red male, was our foundation Dobe. He was a true working Dobe with a powerful, compact body, standard side (27.5”), a full muzzle with a deep lower jaw, a love with a sense of humor, very intelligent and naturally protective. He was a “ham” in the show ring, worked happily in the obedience ring, pulled a cart, was great with kids and loved his whole family as much as we loved him. I am including his pedigree, as we have line bred and in-bred on Jason in an effort to capture his outstanding qualities. He was a potent stud stamping himself on his sons and daughters and grandchildren.

BACKGROUND AND HISTORY OF OUR “FAMILY”
We have had a lot of good things going on and have added new members to our group, both two legged and four legged. All our puppies are raised in the home and thoroughly handled and socialized. We like our show puppies to go to show homes where they will be actively trained, taken to match shows as youngsters (owner handled at match shows) and then given to a handler to be professionally shown for points when they mature.  Our Dobies don’t usually mature until around two and a half to three years old.

Many of the “kids” use this time to start their obedience work. With the modern obedience training methods of “play training” your puppy, NO CHOKE COLLARS; ATTENTION TRAINING AND BONDING WITH YOU AND HAVING FUN WHILE BEING TRAINED. It is easy to have the best of two worlds and train for breed and obedience titles at the same time! The pups love agility training too, which gives them added confidence.

Since we are proud of our Dobies, we like to have them get out and be seen. Therefore, we do give preference to people on our waiting list that will show their pets for obedience titles, conformation, tracking, therapy, search and rescue, and agility.

Three of our Dobes were with Pilot Dogs for the Blind, many are Therapy Dogs, and two were with the CT. police department and lived at home with three children. We have Hearing Dogs for the Deaf, Search and Rescue dogs, and Myron (Wiz x Blazer) was a Delphi/Therapy Dog featured in the spring 1995 Doberman Quarterly Magazine. We feel our Dobes are very intelligent and highly trainable!

Several people have questioned me about longevity and health. We will be glad to give you details about all our kids starting with Jason and including our foundation girls:  Krisa,  Tzar Khan’s Krisma de Scudamore CD; Mandy, Cara’s Mandy de Scudamore CD, WAC;  Galli, CH Alisaton Gallorette CD, ROM.  Abbey was our tightest bred Dobe, being a double Jason grand daughter. She lived to be over 14 years old with a very good quality of life, running up and down stairs and chasing our miniature horses down the fence line!  We have her in action on her 14th birthday.

  • Abbey’s sire, Magic (Ch Scudamore the Magician CD, WAC) was put down at 11 years with arthritis, as was his dam, Krisa, who was 13 years and 3 months.
  • We “lost” Wiz (Can CH Scudamore The Magic Wizard CD) at 6 years and Jaiwe (Am/Can CH Scudamore Sacajawea) at 9 years, both with our first in house cases of cancer…. and both had had Lyme Disease.
  • We, also, lost Towi’s sire, Scudamore The Shogun CD, WAC from Lyme Disease, which caused cataleptic epilepsy. (Lack of oxygen to the brain)  Lyme disease in these cases was through infected urine NOT TICKS!
  • We lost Towi (Can CH Scudamore Towaki CDX) at 10 years from a broken heart two months after her mother, Abbey, died.
  • We had Towi’s two kids; Tsunami, (CGC) whelped 12/22/89-5/1/2001 and Gaijin (CD, CGC) whelped 6/21/90 and unfortunately left us 10/29/98.
  • Our red girl, Amber CD , is a Gaijin daughter whelped 7/15/94.
  • Our elder was Kalli (Can CH Scudamore Wija Kalliste) out of Wiz x Jaiwe who arrived 12/1/1987 and had to leave us 4/12/1999 with cancer.
  • And our “baby” is Phoenix, our black boy whelped 5/26/99 out of Amiga, a Gaijin x Ilsa daughter. He is a UKC CH, CGC, and training for his CD.  He is OFA excellent and my Velcro boy

All of my personal Dobes are OFA, thyroid clear, and have been clear of health problems. We have tried very hard to avoid breeding to any lines that have known problems physically or temperamentally.  We feel the average life span of 7 1⁄2 to 8 1⁄2 years much too short for our Dobermans. Hindsight would dictate to use only older stud dogs (8 years or older) or not breed out to young, unknown studs from other lines! This is the best I can do except pray a lot!

We do NOT have a kennel situation. Our Dobes have all been house pets with the males necessitating a time-share situation. Some of our fur persons were and are:

We do co-own Dobes who enjoy having their own families and homes. This way all litters benefit from a home environment, lots of socialization, love and individual attention. We feel we give our Dobes everything we can: excellent breeding, care, training, love, and their own family. All our puppies are home raised with TLC. They are ready for their new homes at about eight weeks old.

They will have been puppy tested, graded, have all their shots to date, have show ear crops, and a clean bill of health. You will receive a five-generation pedigree, the A.K.C. registration paper as soon as we reeceive it back from the A.K.C., and an instruction booklet on care and training.

All of our puppies are named SCUDAMORE.....because we are proud of our pups and wish to keep track of of them and their achievements whether show, obedience, or family pet members. New owners become members of our "family" and friends. We are in constant touch with each other.

We do like references where possible, and deposits are necessary to reserve a puppy once we know what we have in a litter....such as color, sex, and grading.
